When did you start with TLP? - I initially became associated with TLP as a board member back in 2016. I really enjoyed my time and eventually was elected the Chair of the Board of Directors in 2019. When a leadership position came up I threw my hat in the ring and decided I wanted to help the organization as a career in 2019.
Advice to a current or prospective learner - Never give up on yourself. If you can think it you can achieve it. Just stay focused, look for ways to do thing differently and don’t compare yourself to anyone. Everyone’s path to learning is different. Enjoy the journey and you will succeed.
What are you passionate about when it comes to helping [in the] community? - One of the most rewarding areas for helping in the community is the sense of empowerment and confidence we can instill within the clients that we help while they are in any of our programs. It’s wonderful to see them increase their skills, feel more capable and be able to help them achieve their goals whether these be employment or a sense of independence or just simply increased knowledge.
Your favourite quote - "Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” - John Wooden
